Who we are
Founded in 1989, Westside Neighborhood Development Corporation (WENDCO) is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) community development corporation with roots in West Akron and an impact throughout Summit County.

Our Mission is to revitalize our community through neighbor and partner engagement in the implementation of holistic solutions designed to enhance quality of life for all residents.

With a history of developing affordable housing, offering homebuyer preparation programs, providing homeowner repairs, and leading community improvement projects; WENDCO is committed to investing in a holistic approach to community revitalization.

We have developed dozens of high-quality affordable homes, assisted neighborhood residents in qualifying for purchase, created work opportunities for local contractors, and provided homeowner repairs. These projects are designed to extend the dream of homeownership to all residents, encourage neighborhood stability, and put area residents to work.

Our work to-date has supported neighborhood stabilization, through Housing Acquisition and Rehabilitative Projects; New Home Development Partnerships; Home Ownership Qualification Programs; Mortgage and Finance Assistance Programs; Home Repairs; Credit Counseling & Homebuyer Education Courses; plus, Playground Enhancement & Greening Efforts! 

In addition to developing beautiful, affordable, safe and energy efficient homes throughout Akron and Summit County, WENDCO also builds community spirit!
