COMMUNITY
PROJECTS
In 2010, with
the generous support of Forester’s, Inc, KaBOOM!, and the
City
of Akron, we
coordinated an amazing community playground build at
Stoner-Hawkins Park. This energizing project was made
possible with help from hundreds of neighborhood resident
builders, and many local businesses. The impact of the
new playspace is still felt today. In 2012, we will
install motivational step markers in the same park. The
markers will measure distance, encourage convenient outdoor
activity, and promote physical fitness.

Next in a series of projects designed to promote healthier
living and create economic opportunities, we are working
with neighborhood residents, and community organizational
partners to build a high tunnel garden in Akron’s Summit
Lake, which is an area classified as an Urban Food Desert. |
